Meet the Doctor
Steven Szatkowski, D.C., C.C.S.P.
Dr. Steve Szatkowski is a 1980 graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Public Health/Environmental Health. Dr. Steve has been a chiropractor since 1986 when he received his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from Life Chiropractic College.
In 1995 Dr. Steve completed a 300-hour training program in sports medicine and received certificate and diplomate status as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (C.C.S.P.).
Since then, Dr. Steve has taken numerous courses in nutrition, wellness care approaches, and clinical neurology. In addition to conventional chiropractic care, he has brought new state-of-the-art technology to his practice with the addition of a cold light laser, percusser, EB-305 energy balancer, and computerized health assessment. He also utilizes a technique called Contact Reflex Analysis (C.R.A.) that allows him to tap into specific reflexes in the body and determine the type of clinical nutrition that is needed to help support the patient on his/her journey to health. He also attends seminars and training programs on a regular basis so that he will remain on the cutting edge of new techniques and technology in order to help his patients achieve optimal health.
With new approaches and technology coupled with his committment to wellness and energy-based health care, Dr. Steve is committed to helping his patients live fuller and healthier lives.
Tyler Karns, D.C.
Dr. Tyler Karns attended Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana, where he majored in Psychology. After Ball State, Dr. Karns attended Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. As part of his internship, Dr. Karns spent four months at the national training center in Bogota, treating Colombia’s national athletes. Dr. Karns graduated from Parker College in August of 2009.
After graduation, Dr. Karns began teaching Anatomy and Physiology at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas. In September of 2010, he moved to the West Michigan area with his wife, Avery, and son, Sebastian. Dr. Karns now works as an Associate Doctor at Fruitport Chiropractic Center, and as a Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Grand Rapids Community College.
Dr. Karns’ specialties include treating athletes, seniors, and whole families. He emphasizes patient education and understanding as paramount, and treats the whole person with whatever means are safe, effective, and available. Those means include Chiropractic adjustments, nutritional assessment and supplementation, lifestyle consulting, physiotherapeutic tools (such as cold laser, percussor, etc.), strengthening and rehabilitation programs, soft tissue release, and spinal hygiene.
Dr. Karns is excited to be a member of the Fruitport Chiropractic Center team, and is eager to learn from the many years of experience, and many areas of expertise that Dr. Steve brings to the practice.
